Resources for Racial Justice Bible Study:

Resources from Session #3:
Psalm 10:17-18
O LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble;
You will strengthen their heart,
You will incline Your ear to vindicate the orphan and the oppressed,

So that man who is of the earth will no longer cause terror.
Isaiah 61: 1-3
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor.  He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
Isaiah 58:6-7
Is not this the fast that I choose:  to loose the bonds of injustice, to undo the thongs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke?  Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house;  when you see the naked, to cover them, and not to hide yourself from your own kin?
Psalm 82:3-4
Vindicate the weak and fatherless; Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.  Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.
Proverbs 21:3
To do righteousness and justice is desired by the LORD more than sacrifice.
Jeremiah 22:3
`Thus says the LORD, “Do justice and righteousness, and deliver the one who has been robbed from the power of his oppressor. Also do not mistreat or do violence to the stranger, the orphan, or the widow; and do not shed innocent blood in this place.
Revelation 7:9-10
After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice, saying,

“Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!”
