To help Carroll County low-income families grow up healthy and stay healthy by providing nutritious food to pregnant, breast-feeding, or postpartum women, and their infants and children up to age five. Applicants are screened for medical and/or nutritional needs; they are weighed, measured, and screened for iron deficiency. Must also meet income and residency requirements. Applicants receive nutrition counseling and referrals to medical and social services as necessary. Breast-feeding promotion and support provided where appropriate. Eligible applicants receive checks to purchase specific healthy foods. No fees are charged. Services are provided by appointment only.
